Are you having issues with losing weight?
If so, you’re not alone.
Getting rid of excess weight has become an unbelievably difficult task for millions of people.
However, once you understand why the weight loss challenge exists, you can begin combating it successfully.
There are many reasons why gaining weight has become the new pastime:
These are seven quick factors that cause people to have problems losing weight. Let’s focus your attention on just one of these, the increased consumption of processed/junk food.
The fact that processed/junk foods are bad for you should be obvious. Most of it is sugar, salt, or something loosely resembling actual food. If you’re currently eating large numbers of “foods” that come pre-packaged and “ready-to-eat”, it’s recommended that you re-evaluate this habit.
Not only for help with losing weight, but for your long-term health as well. A large intake of processed food leaves you at risk for high cholesterol or heart problems, as well as a variety of organ cancers.
Therefore, let’s start you off on the way to better health and a lower weight number through five extremely easy tips on how to avoid processed/junk foods.
The first commitment to make is cooking and eating from home.
Today, it’s not uncommon for the average family to eat at a restaurant nearly every evening. Unless you’re eating at a restaurant geared toward organic/“green” foods, you’re eating processed and pre-packaged foods. Don’t fool yourself into thinking that chain restaurants are preparing your food from scratch.
They’re not. For the most part, the food comes pre-packaged or frozen and is then re-heated or zapped for you in their kitchen. You have no idea where their fish, chicken, or beef is coming from.
If you don’t make a firm decision to begin preparing your own food more often, the last four tips aren’t going to do you much good. Sure, you may be busy. How important is your health and the idea of losing weight, though?
You have a pre-determined time for work, the kid’s games, your favorite television shows, and hopefully, your exercising. It’s now time to set aside a specific day of the week to shop for the food you’ll be cooking up at home. For example, if you work Monday through Friday, set aside Saturday morning or Sunday evening as your shopping time.
Please do this. If you don’t have a plan to replenish your food each week, it’ll become too easy to fall back into the habit of eating out when the cupboards go bare.
You’d be surprised at how many people run to the supermarket without a plan. They simply show up and begin grabbing whatever looks good at the moment. This is a sure way to end up with a shopping cart full of processed/junk food. It’s also a sure-fire plan to sabotage your efforts at losing weight.
Again, this sounds simple, but too many people go the market hungry. When you’re hungry, it can be hard to stick to your plan. The tantalizing and colorful junk food packaging is sure to lure you in when your stomach is growling.
If you pay attention to how your supermarket is set up, all your fruits and vegetables are on the outside perimeter, while all the processed/junk food fills up the inside. Stay on the outside and discover the wonderful world of fruits and vegetables, as well as the joys of losing weight.
This is where you’ll find your meats to cook at home. Try to stick to as many organics with your fruits and vegetables. With your meats, try to buy fish that hasn’t been raised on a “fish farm”. As for your chicken and beef, search out the free-range/hormone-free variety.
Losing weight and staying healthy involves more than simply changing what you eat. It also requires a quality exercise program. However, following the five steps described will net you great “start-up” results.
